ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Cassandra Griggs-Frierson is the Founder and Executive Director of Compass Education Center, Incorporate. Cassandra has a Masters degree in Curriculum and Technology and is currently in her last year of earning her Doctorate in Education, with a major in Organizational Leadership with a minor in School Business Leadership.

Cassandra Frierson has over ten (10) years of experience working in various educational settings in diverse settings such as PACE Center for Girls (Tampa, Fl), Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School (Tampa, Fl), and Pivot Charter School(Riverview, Fl). Cassandra currently serves as a Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Reviewer with AdvancED, an international school accreditation council.

From her experience in the field as a classroom teacher and administrator, she saw firsthand that economically disadvantaged youth face many roadblocks to college, have fewer opportunities to develop 21st century skills, and have less exposure to college and career options. Cassandra developed a comprehensive program that could be incorporated into a variety of academic settings for any student. Therefore, she designed a STEM-based program to assist under-served and under-represented (“at-risk”) youth from low-income families and first generation college-going students while incorporating 21st century college and career readiness.

Cassandra is no stranger is assisting those in need. Cassandra is the co-Founder of the Griggs Education Foundation, Incorporated (www.griggsfoundation.org) with her brother Dr. James Griggs. Their family foundation provides merit-based scholarships to students that live in their hometown of Dothan, Alabama. Cassandra volunteers in her community with Current of Tampa Bay and is a member of several organizations such as Emerge of Greater Tampa Bay Chamber and the Project Management Institute of Tampa Bay to name a few.
